Bromsgrove care home surprises resident with car show

Lifetime car enthusiast Bill Ewen, 83, and resident of Care UK’s Chandler Court, has been to several motor shows across the UK for over 30 years with his MG Midget – and was keen to attend again at a car show.

Hearing about his hobby, the nursing home staff decided to contact the North Worcestershire MG Car Club and arranged a visit to make Bill’s wish come true.

That same day, the house arranged for Bill to hold his own car show where he got to see a selection of MGs, one of which was the same model as his beloved old car.

Bill and club visitors spent hours discussing MGs and attending car shows.

Vongai Mushinga, home manager of Chandler Court, said: “We had a wonderful time with Worcestershire MG Car Club, and Bill loved every minute of it.

“Bill is a car fanatic and still shares fond memories of the MG Midget car he had in his youth. Driving around the country at car shows and winning prizes – it’s fair to say that his car anecdotes do not miss !

“The whole team worked hard to organize the event and we are delighted to have been able to make it possible for him – the joy in his eyes when he saw the exact same model said it all.”

Amanda, Bill’s daughter, added: “It was so nice to see my dad with a huge smile on his face as he enjoyed watching MGs.

“He got to show pictures and tell stories about his beloved car – it was a truly special day. I can’t thank the team at Chandler Court enough for making his wish come true.
