Fifteen car parks rewarded for their accessibility

Monday, December 20, 2021

Fifteen car parks managed by the Tendring District Council (TDC) have been recognized for their accessibility.

The facilities have had their Disabled Motoring UK disabled parking accreditation renewed in recognition of their quality.

To be eligible, car parks must not only have disabled parking spaces, but enforce them to ensure that they are not used by ineligible people, clear signage, easy access, parking machines. accessible payment and good lighting.

Michael Talbot, TDC cabinet member responsible for parking, said accreditation was a case of doing the right thing.

“We understand that if you are disabled, a car can be a lifeline for you; but that only works if there are suitable places to park, ”Councilor Talbot said.

“In this spirit, it is important for us that any person, disabled or not, resident or visitor, can use our car parks without having to worry about the rest of their trip. “
