Residents have complained that the new system does not take into account people unable to find space, according to Cornwall Live.

Locals who have been fined so far called the strict arrangement ‘ridiculous’ and ‘a rip-off’

Hazel Belle Thompson posted a photo of the parking terms and conditions on a Facebook group and wrote, “It’s a camera. As soon as you walk in, your car and reg are taken.”

“I work locally and got caught for an extra 14 minutes even though I spend £40 at least every week in this car park. I lost a full day’s pay to a 14 minute parking fine” , she added.

Another local said she received fine notices four times for simply walking through the parking lot.

“I drove in and out, didn’t get out of my car because I was just using the parking lot to turn around like I’ve done a million times over the years. Fine. I did call,” wrote Alice Watts.

Drivers have also raised questions about ‘confusing’ rules and conflicting times shown on signage inside the car park.

Alliance Parking, the company in charge of parking, has since issued a press release.

“No tickets were issued for parking after 10:00 p.m. where the payment was made. As the software is set up to honor payments made up to 11:00 p.m. no parking fees were issued for just getting in and out,” the statement read.
